Back today from a weekend in Chipping, Lancashire.  We stayed at Brickhouse Caravan Site, a peaceful, spacious and friendly family run site.  We met friends who were also staying on site this weekend, and picked up ideas for further camping ventures from them.

Within easy walking distance of Chipping Village, with 2 good pubs, cafe, and post office/convenience store, this is a gem of a site ideal for us if we fancy a quick escape, just approx. 40 mins away.

One of the pubs, The Sun Inn, has an interesting history and is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of a young scullery maid whose heart was broken … though the only spirits we encountered were in a glass.

The pretty St Bartholomew’s Church opposite the pub is where Lizzie Dean is buried.  We laid a flower there for her, poor lass!!

The other pub in the village is the Tillotson’s Arms.

Both serve decent grub and ales!

Enjoyable weekend.  Next stop Thornbrook Barn Campsite,  Ingleton, where according to Bri I’m going caving (?!).

ONWARD!>>>
